ROHDE & SCHWARZ Strengthens Collaboration with KNUST through Hands-On Engineering Challenge

On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, representatives from ROHDE & SCHWARZ paid a courtesy call on Prof. (Mrs) Augustina Angelina Sylverken, Vice-Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO), to reinforce the strong ties between the university and global industry leaders, setting the stage for an intensive weekend of innovation.

The delegation, which included Prof. Marius Schmidt (Director of the Dynamic Development Campus) and Prof. Hermann Bayala (Senior Software Test Manager and QA Specialist), was accompanied by Prof. Abdul Rahman, Dr. Kingsford Sarkodie Kwakye, Dr. Kwame Oteng Gyasi, and Prof. Ellis Sani Mubarak, all from the Department of Telecommunication Engineering.

As part of their visit, the team announced the organization of a 48-hour AI and Engineering Hackathon in partnership with KNUST. Scheduled to take place from 19th to 21st June 2026 at the KNUST E-Learning Centre, the event is designed to challenge students to develop innovative solutions to real-world engineering problems through the integration of Artificial Intelligence and hardware technologies.

Welcoming the dignitaries, Prof. Sylverken expressed profound enthusiasm for the collaboration between ROHDE & SCHWARZ and the Department of Telecommunication Engineering, emphasizing that partnerships of this caliber are central to KNUST’s mission of advancing research, innovation, and practical capacity building for students.

The team expressed their excitement about collaborating with KNUST’s top-tier student talent. They noted that bridging academic excellence with industry challenges is vital for nurturing the next generation of tech innovators and driving practical engineering solutions.

The meeting concluded on a high note with a presentation of institutional tokens to the delegation, followed by a brief group photograph session to commemorate the partnership and signal the official countdown to the highly anticipated weekend hackathon.
