A delegation of German students from CommunicaTUM, an interdisciplinary group at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, focused on enhancing public engagement and understanding of complex issues through various communication methods, paid a courtesy visit to Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on March 24, 2025.
The delegation, which included Omar Rashed (Molecular Biotechnology), Christina Schwalm (Architecture), Olivia Jarosch (Biology), and Vicente Mario Algaba MartÃnez (Molecular Biotechnology), is currently in Ghana to conduct a survey on Genetic Modification and Food Insecurity.

The team had had engagement with a cross section of students and some faculty at KNUST in order to obtain the Ghanaian perspective on the strategies for proper scientific communication on genetic modifications and food insecurity.
As first-time visitors to Ghana, the team expressed their admiration for the country’s vibrant culture, from the delicious local cuisine to the breathtaking scenery. They shared their experiences visiting several renowned sites in the Northern region, which left a lasting impression on them.

Professor Daniel Duah warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed his gratitude that they had chosen KNUST for their research. He highlighted that TUM is one of KNUST’s key partner institutions in the world. He also commended the team for their courage in exploring Kumasi and other parts of Ghana and wished them a successful stay and fruitful research.
