HIGH LEVEL DELEGATION FROM STATE UNIVERSITY OF ZANZIBAR, TANZANIA PAYS A COURTESY CALL ON THE DEAN OF THE INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMES OFFICE

On Tuesday, 28th July 2026, a high-level benchmarking delegation from the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), Tanzania paid a courtesy call on the management of the International Programmes Office (IPO), Prof. Edmund Ekuadzi, and Prof. (Mrs.) Augustina Sylverken, as part of the delegation's broader institutional itinerary across KNUST.

The delegation included Prof. Abdi Talib Abdalla, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), and key team members from SUZA’s Building Stronger Universities Phase 4 project: Dr. Idrissa Hamad- Head of the Department of Research and BSU4 Work Package 4 Leader, Dr. Fatma Saleh, BSU4 Work Package 1 Leader, Dr. Abdalla Shaame, BSU4 Work Package 4 Leader, Ms. Aziza Siba Abdulkadir, BSU4 Work Package 3 Leader, Dr. Abdulrahim Ali, BSU4 Work Package 4 Member.

The visit formed part of an institutional learning tour aimed at giving the SUZA delegation first-hand insight into KNUST’s research administration, internationalization efforts, governance systems and academic practices to strengthen research administration, institutional governance, and operational efficiency as they actively develop their own comprehensive Grant Management System.

Welcoming the delegation, the Dean delivered an extensive presentation detailing the administrative architecture of IPO internationalization drive. The overview highlighted strategic mechanisms for establishing and nurturing international collaborations and partnerships, managing balanced inbound and outbound student and staff exchange Programmes, and streamlining general office operations. Special focus was also given to institutional visibility, modern communication strategies for global outreach, and student-centered extracurricular programs that foster cross-cultural integration.

By exchanging best practices in grant governance and institutional operations, KNUST and SUZA reaffirmed the vital importance of South-South cooperation. The benchmarking engagement concluded with mutual commitments to convert shared insights into long-term strategic actions, laying a strong foundation for future joint research projects, co-authored grant applications, and expanded academic mobility between KNUST and SUZA.
