On January 12, 2025, the Confucius Institute at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) successfully held its first HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test), covering levels 1 to 5. A total of 33 candidates participated in the offline exam.

To ensure the exam ran smoothly, the staff of the CI at KNUST made careful preparations. As a newly established overseas testing center approved by Chinese Testing International, all teachers completed pre-exam training and obtained official invigilation qualifications.

Before the exam, an invigilation training session was held to clarify the roles and responsibilities of staff and review emergency procedures. All necessary materials were prepared in advance. On the exam day, teachers arrived at the venue at 7:30 a.m. to set up. They posted seating charts and candidate numbers, arranged directional signs, and designated storage areas for personal belongings, creating a quiet and comfortable environment for the candidates.

The successful organization of this HSK exam marks a significant step forward for the CI at KNUST in promoting Chinese language education. The candidates came from diverse age groups and professional backgrounds, including primary school students, university students, and working professionals, reflecting the growing demand for Chinese language learning in the Kumasi region.

In the future, the CI at KNUST will continue to leverage exams like the HSK to provide more opportunities for Chinese learners to assess and improve their language skills.
