The Council of the Ghana Institute of Architects (GIA), led by Arc. Tony Asare (President), paid a courtesy visit to Professor Daniel Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) who is also a member of GIA.
The delegation included Arc. Augustus Richardson (Vice President), Arc. Daniel Kwadjo Teye (Honorary Secretary), Arc. Ewurabena Konadu Agyeman-Duah (Publicity & Events Secretary), Arc. Akosua Serwah Obeng Mensah (Social Secretary), Arc. Freeman Kwame Agbomanyi (Treasurer), Arc. Alexander Boakye Marful (Educational Representative, KNUST), Arc. Peter Atsu Amenyo, and Arc. Patience Ewurama Ocran.
Arc. Asare indicated that the Council was visiting KNUST as part of their mandate to engage the major stakeholders in the teaching of architecture at KNUST and to also give the recently inducted Council an opportunity to engage the team.
Professor Daniel Duah warmly welcomed the delegation and emphasized the critical role of architecture in societal development, particularly at KNUST. He cited the Kumasi Trees Project as an example of how architecture partners with multi disciplinary teams to contribute to sustainable urban planning. Additionally, he stressed the importance of bridging the gap between academia and industry, commending GIA’s efforts to foster collaboration within the architectural field.
Also present at the meeting were Mr. Livingstone Agbenorxevi, Assistant Collaborations and Partnerships Officer, and Mr. Attah-Nyame Essampong, Visibility and Communications Officer.
