The International Programmes Office (IPO) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) was delighted to receive a distinguished international delegation from Southern Cross University and during a courtesy call on the Dean of the International Programmes Office, Professor Edmund Ekuadzi, on Friday, 15th May 2026.
The delegation was introduced to the Dean by Dr. Michael Kodwo Adjaloo, who has already been engaging the team in preliminary discussions on the proposed collaboration and project activities. He also led the delegation to the Dean as part of efforts to strengthen the partnership discussions with KNUST.
The visiting team included Dr. Youssef Bencharki from International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas, Dr. Cooper Schouten from Southern Cross University and Isabela Lippi. Discussions centred on an upcoming research initiative funded by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research, which seeks to promote farming with alternative pollinators across Ghana, Moroco, and Australia to improve crop diversification and agricultural productivity.
During the meeting, the delegation expressed strong interest in working closely with KNUST due to the University’s impressive research environment, facilities, and technical expertise. The team discussed opportunities for staff and student exchanges, collaborative research, and the possibility of using KNUST as a major research hub for field trials and practical training activities.
The discussions also explored ways of creating practical opportunities for students and graduates by linking academic training with field-based experience and research. Receiving the delegation, Professor Ekuadzi commended the initiative and emphasized the importance of building sustainable collaborations through gradual but strategic engagement. He noted that the ongoing discussions provide a strong foundation for future institutional agreements and broader international cooperation.
The proposed collaboration is expected to strengthen ties between academia, industry, and international stakeholders while advancing sustainable agricultural research and innovation.
