Following his visit to the International Programmes Office on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Professor Clinton Willson, Dean of the College of the Coast & Environment at Louisiana State University (LSU), paid a courtesy visit to the College of Science at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He was introduced to the Provost by Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar of the International Programmes Office.
Professo Willson was warmly received by Professor Leonard Amekudzi, Provost of the College of Science; Mrs. Mercy Vanessa Darkwaa Appiah-Castel, the College Registrar; and a group of researchers with interests in environmental quality assurance.
The meeting included distinguished faculty such as Professor Jonathan Nartey Hogarh, Head of the Department of Environmental Science; Professor David Dotse Wemegah, Associate Professor in the Department of Physics; and Dr. Cyril Dziedzorm Boateng, Lecturer in the Department of Physics.
Professor Willson expressed his admiration for the KNUST campus, particularly its lush greenery and serene environment.
During the meeting, Professor Amekudzi provided a detailed overview of the College of Science, highlighting its student population of approximately 11,000 and a staff strength of over 200. He emphasized the strong culture of interdisciplinary research within and across the university’s colleges.
Professor Willson noted that the College’s research priorities align closely with those at LSU and expressed keen interest in establishing a collaborative partnership.
As part of the visit, Professor Willson, accompanied by Professor Hogarh, toured the laboratories of the Department of Environmental Science to gain firsthand insight into ongoing practical and research activities.
Also present at the meeting were Mr. Livingstone Agbenorxevi, Assistant Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; and Mr. Attah-Nyame Essampong, Visibility and Communications Officer – all of the IPO.
