Dean of International Programmes Office Attends Pamoja Nairobi Partner Summit 2023

The Dean of International Programmes Office, Prof. Daniel Duah, has attended the Pamoja Nairobi Partner Summit 2023 held at Strathmore University Business School from May 24-25, 2023 in Kenya.

The Pamoja ND Africa initiative aims to establish and strengthen partnerships between the University of Notre Dame, USA and academic and non-academic institutions, researcher centers, individual researchers, scholars, students, and policy makers on the African continent.

The Pamoja Partner Summit brought together participants from over 20 African Universities and Institutions to discuss potential synergies and collaboration, opportunities for short- and long-term partnerships, best practices and strategies for mutually beneficial partnerships, and existing resources and strengths to support programming within the network.

The ultimate immediate term goal of the summit was establishing the Pamoja network, a consortium of partners that can support research, teaching, and engagement across the network and position the respective entities to compete for grants through sponsored programmes.

Topics discussed included areas of strength for research collaboration; collaborative teaching, student exchange, advising, and programmes; capacity strengthening and exchange among partners; goals and criteria for mutually beneficial sustainable partnerships; barriers to effective partnerships and strategies to overcome them; and future plans to establish and solidify sustainable and equitable partnerships.

Representing KNUST - Kumasi, Prof. Duah co-facilitated the session on: Thematic Strengths for Partnerships with Danice Guzman from the University of Notre Dame.

He took the opportunity to engage a number of colleagues from partner universities including University of Notre Dame - USA, Strathmore University-Kenya, Stellenbosch University - South Africa, The University of Makeni - Sierra Leone, Uganda Martyrs University, African School of Economics - La Cote D’Ivoire; and many more.
