The Dean of the International Programmes Office wished the outgoing UNSA executives well

On Tuesday, 9th September 2025, the outgoing executives of the United Nations Students Association (UNSA) paid a courtesy call on Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The visit served as an introduction of the new leadership team and an opportunity to present their progress, achievements, and plans for the association.

The delegation from UNSA included Daniel Takyi Agyeman, Outgoing President; Victoria Ain Kyeraa, Outgoing Financial Secretary; Samuel Opoku, Outgoing Membership Director; Gyakye Enah, Outgoing Media Head; Samuel Baffoe, Outgoing Executive Member; and Princess Akolakye, Incoming General Secretary.

They were warmly received by the IPO team comprising Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, Dean of IPO; Mr. Karikari Gyimah Ankoana, Inbound and Outbound Exchange Officer; and Mr. Attah-Nyame Esampong, Visibility and Communications Officer.

During the meeting, the President highlighted the growth of the association, noting that a new platform had been created to onboard members, leading to 120 sign-ups, out of which 80 had fully registered. He further outlined their three new initiatives, which were based on the Dean’s earlier advice, with tree planting serving as a central programme. The team also emphasized efforts at building collaborations, some of which are currently in progress, as well as training sessions organized to equip executives with professional skills in leadership and presentation.

Among their achievements, the executives mentioned successfully organizing a seminar, issuing certificates of participation, and gaining increased recognition on campus. The Financial Secretary reported steady financial growth, with money raised from executives and further contributions saved to support their programmes.

The Membership Director noted improved participation levels across activities, while the Head of Media highlighted the team’s enhanced media presence, which helped attract participants through strong virtual engagement. Individual members also reflected on progress made.

Samuel Baffoe acknowledged the improvement in programme delivery, while Princess Acolatse stressed the need for more visibility and publicity moving forward.

Professor Daniel Duah congratulated the executives and welcomed the new. He reminded them of the responsibilities that come with leadership and encouraged them to uphold the values of UNSA, integrate the association’s identity into all their endeavors, and adopt habits of planning ahead.

He further advised the team to remain social and collaborative, ensuring the association continues to grow in strength and relevance. The executives also extended an invitation to the Dean to attend their upcoming handing-over ceremony.
