On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, a delegation from North-West University (NWU), South Africa, paid a visit to Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The visiting team comprised Professor Lebo Gafane-Matemane, Associate Professor of Physiology; Sr. Adéle Burger, Manager of the Hypertension Research and Training Clinic; Dr. Felicia Maugana, Postdoctoral Fellow; and Miss Nonkululeko Navise, Lecturer in the School of Physiology.

They were introduced to the IPO by Professor Peter Agyei-Baffour, Dean of the School of Public Health at KNUST, and accompanied by Dr. Daniel Boateng, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Mrs. Ernestina Quarshie, School Secretary.

Professor Agyei-Baffour underscored the longstanding relationship between KNUST and NWU, which began in 2018 as an informal collaboration and has since evolved into a structured partnership through the Collaborative Hypertension Project. To formalize this alliance, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been prepared. The delegation’s visit aimed to engage with key stakeholders, witness the signing of the MoU by KNUST’s Vice Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson and pave the way for NWU’s counter endorsement in South Africa.

The NWU delegation expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality extended by their Ghanaian hosts. They particularly commended the rich cultural experience, including Ghanaian cuisine and lauded the vibrant and energetic atmosphere of the KNUST campus.

In his remarks, Professor Daniel Duah welcomed the delegation with enthusiasm, emphasizing that inter-departmental collaborations, driven by clear communication and dedicated contacts, often yield the most sustainable and impactful results. He assured the guests of KNUST’s full support in ensuring the success of the partnership and extended his best wishes for a fruitful and memorable stay in Ghana.
