On Wednesday, 30th July 2025, a delegation from Durham University, United Kingdom, paid a courtesy call on Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), as part of a visit to engage students in the Departments of Mathematics and Physics.
The delegation from Durham University was introduced by Dr. Richard Kena Boadi a Senior Lecturer with the Mathematics Department and comprised distinguished academics including Professor Christine Done, a renowned Astrophysicist and the first female Professor of Physics at Durham University; Professor John Parker, a Prominent Theoretical Physicist and fellow of the Royal Society; and Rachael Esa I. In his welcome remarks, Professor Daniel Duah expressed his appreciation for the visit and commended the team for their efforts in expanding students’ horizons. He remarked that “rocket science is still in its early stages in Ghana, so it’s a rare and valuable opportunity for our students to interact with leading global experts in this field.” He also emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships in enriching academic programs and fostering innovation.
The delegation was received by members of the IPO team, including Mrs. Evelyn Safowaa Asante, Senior Administrative Assistant; Mr. Attah Nyame Esampong, Visibility and Communication Officer; and Mr. Karikari Gyimah Ankoana, Inbound and Outbound Exchange Officer.
