On February 5, 2025, the Interior Designers and Decorators Ghana (IDDG) together with DFWI Ghana Limited hosted an innovative workshop at the Department of Architecture, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The event was facilitated by industry leaders including Audrey Forson, President of IDDG; Pierre Marawi, Managing Director of DFWI Ghana Limited; Martin Farmer, Head of Sales for Africa and the Middle East at EGGER; Tobias Joseph, Adebayo Adegbeye, and Obiri Yeboah Mensah, representing BLUM’s African sales team.
The workshop featured presentations by BLUM, a global leader in furniture fittings, and EGGER, a renowned manufacturer of wood-based materials, offering 6th-year Architecture students hands-on experience and insights into the latest design trends. Key topics included smart storage solutions, sustainable materials, modern space planning, and innovative technologies.
Interactive sessions were held with the Master of Architecture Year 2 studio with prize-winning opportunities made the event both educational and engaging. The Year Master, Prof. Daniel Duah, welcomed the delegation and highlighted the importance of such engagements with the class having designated Wednesdays as industry days. He indicated the importance of students learning about contemporary ideas and products in interior architecture and looked forward to an engaging session.
This event, coordinated by IDDG, DFWI, and KNUST, highlights the significance of industry-academia partnerships in equipping students with practical skills and knowledge. Attendees gained valuable technical expertise, learned about sustainable design practices, and networked with key industry professionals, preparing them for successful careers in architecture and interior design.
Following the successful completion of the workshop the delegation met with the Head of Department of Architecture, Rev. Fr. Dr. Victor Quagraine, who was delighted about the opportunities created and looked forward to a conclusion to the partnership discussions to guide the relationship between the two institutions.
