On Friday, March 13, 2026, a delegation from Imperial College London (ICL), comprising Prof. Majid Ezzati, Academic Director for Imperial Global Ghana, and Prof. Amma Boakye-Danquah, Associate Director, paid a courtesy call on Prof. Edmund Ekuadzi, Dean of the International Programmes Office at KNUST. The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen international research collaboration and promote knowledge exchange.
During the meeting, Prof. Ezzati highlighted the shared focus of both institutions as science and technology-driven universities. He noted that Imperial College London is expanding its global footprint through strategic hubs established in Singapore, Thailand, the United States, and Ghana. The Ghana hub, located in Accra, focuses on three key areas: entrepreneurship training for students, fostering grassroots relationships to support collaborations, and developing flagship initiatives.
He explained that the purpose of the visit was to identify key entry points for collaboration with KNUST as a foundation for building a strong and sustainable partnership.
In response, Prof. Ekuadzi warmly welcomed the delegation and affirmed KNUST’s openness to collaboration across the identified thematic areas. He noted that, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, departments have been encouraged to showcase innovative ventures, reflecting the University’s commitment to leveraging knowledge and partnerships to improve quality of life.
He further emphasised the role of the International Programmes Office in facilitating both local and international partnerships, adding that the Office, operating under the Vice Chancellor receives strong institutional support to sustain active collaborations across all colleges and units. He reiterated KNUST’s readiness to support Imperial College London in making the right connections to advance the partnership and wished the delegation a productive visit.
Also present at the meeting were Dr. Akyana Britwum, Lecturer in the Department of Physics; Ms. Ernestine Oheneba Danso, Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; and Ms. Patricia Frimpong-Manso, Visibility and Communications Officer, both from the International Programmes Office.
