KNUST and University of Lille Forge New Partnership for Academic Collaboration

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, and the University of Lille have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Academic Collaboration. The signing ceremony, held at the Council Chamber of the University on 2nd May 2024, aimed to initiate a robust partnership between the two institutions.

The leader of the delegation from the University of Lille, Professor Nil Özçaglar-Toulouse, Vice President in-charge of International and European Affairs, highlighted that the MoU seeks to solidify the new partnership between KNUST and the University of Lille. She disclosed that the key components of the agreement include exchange programmes, collaborative research initiatives, and knowledge exchange. She expressed optimism about building a strong and enduring partnership with KNUST.

Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, emphasised the University’s commitment to constructive partnerships and expressed excitement about this new relationship. She mentioned that the partnership could extend to include faculty and student exchanges, exploring opportunities across various Colleges and Research Centres. "We see in your University a very prominent partnership that we don't want to take lightly," she said, assuring the delegation of the commitment of Management to nurturing this new partnership.

Professor Daniel Yaw Addai Duah, the Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO), KNUST, mentioned the fruitful discussions held during the delegation's visit. He outlined that the MoU focuses on collaboration across four key Colleges: Health Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Engineering, and Science. He also revealed ongoing conversations with Campus France and outlined plans to enhancing future collaborations.

Present at the meeting from KNUST were Mr. Yaw Owusu-Asamoah, Deputy Registrar, Human Resources Division; Professor Christian Agyare, Provost of the College of Health Sciences; Professor Charles Ofosu Marfo, College of Humanities and Social Sciences; Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria Ogunnike Faleke, Head of Department of Language and Communication Sciences; Dr. Edward Kofi Adu Manyah and Mr. Michael Damoah, from the Department of Languages and Communication Sciences; and Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar, IPO.  Accompanying Professor Nil were Professor Assi N'Guessan, Associate Professor in Applied Mathematics and Applications of Mathematics; Professor Gervais Martial Essama Zoh, Associate Professor in Management Science and Dr. Joseph Armando Soba, Director for International Development. From Campus France were Luqeurt Nolwenn, Head of Campus France, Ghana and Julien Lecas, Head of Cooperation and Culture, both at the French Embassy Ghana.
