KNUST committed to advancing sustainable energy solutions by signing an MoU with Yinson Production for an advanced net-zero carbon emission project

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has formalized a five-year partnership with Yinson Production through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the Department of Petroleum Engineering’s Net Zero Carbon Emission Project. The agreement, signed on Thursday, June 12, 2025, underscores KNUST’s commitment to bridging industry-academia gaps and advancing sustainable energy solutions.

Led by Managing Director Mrs. Naa Opoku-Agyeman, Yinson Production awarded funding to KNUST after a competitive review of proposals, recognizing the Department of Petroleum Engineering’s outstanding submission. Mrs. Opoku-Agyeman praised the proposal’s excellence, affirming KNUST’s merit as the ideal partner for the initiative.

 

Professor Kwabena Biritwum Nyarko, Provost of the College of Engineering, highlighted the project’s alignment with KNUST’s vision to foster impactful collaborations with industry.

Vice Chancellor Professor Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson welcomed the delegation, reiterating the university’s dedication to world-class research and education across all disciplines. She commended Yinson Production for the partnership, emphasizing its potential to address climate change and elevate global sustainability efforts.
