KNUST hosted the 2nd China-Africa Automotive Development Forum

On Tuesday June 9, 2025, Ghana and China renewed their commitment to advancing electric mobility in Africa with the launch of the 2nd edition of the China-Africa Automotive Development Forum, hosted at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and held at the College of Engineering auditorium.

The event, organised by the Confucius Institute at KNUST in partnership with Hubei University of Automotive Technology (HUAT) in China and supported by the College of Engineering, KNUST, was under the theme “Intelligent Manufacturing of Lightweight Electric Vehicles.”

Major stakeholders and industry players including the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Minister of Energy and Green Transitions, Ashanti Regional Minister, President of HUAT, Vice Chancellor of KNUST, Provost of the College of Engineering, Ing. Kojo Annobil, Mrs. Yang Yang of Zonda Motors, Chinese business community, stakeholders in Ghana including the Standards Authority, academia, members of the Confucius Institute, students and the general public attended this highly successful event.

With over 1,000 participants in person and virtually, the overwhelmingly successful forum saw Keynote speeches delivered, performances had, enthralling exhibition showcased, strategic discussions had and parallel academic presentations in this domain executed throughout the day.
