On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, Min Kyu Lee from African AI Digital Healthcare Initiative (AADHI), Korea who has partnered with Prof. Kyu-Baek Yoon of Ewha Womans University, Seoul, South Korea,, met with Professor Christian Agyare, Provost of the College of Health Sciences at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), along with Professor Daniel Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO), and the Deans of the various Faculties and Schools within the college.
The meeting aimed to explore potential areas for joint research collaboration in the health sector. Min Kyu Lee proposed partnerships in several key areas, including Innovative AI Healthcare Solutions, IoT Technology Integration, Hospital Digitalization and Data Management, AI Research, Telemedicine, and AI Simulation.
Welcoming the guest, Professor Agyare shared that the College of Health Sciences is in the process of establishing a Centre for AI in Health, pending approval from the University. He expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, particularly in AI simulation, emphasizing the importance of utilizing local African data rather than relying solely on conventional simulations based on external datasets.
Professor Daniel Duah reaffirmed IPO’s commitment to facilitating the partnership, noting that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be pursued to formalize the agreement once a letter of intent is received.
The discussions underscored a shared commitment to advancing healthcare innovation through strategic international collaboration, with expectations of formalizing the partnership in the near future.
