On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, Min Kyu Lee from African AI Digital Healthcare Initiative (AADHI), Republic of Korea in partnership with Prof. Kyu-Baek Yoon of Ewha Womans University, Seoul, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)h, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) at KNUST. He was accompanied by Rev. Dr. Smith Francis K. Tetteh, Presbytery Chairperson of the Global Evangelical Church, Kumasi. Also in attendance were Professor Mrs. Veronica Millicent Dzomeku, Dean of Faculty of Nursing, and Dr. Philemon Adoliwine Amooba, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Emergency and Critical Care Nursing.
The purpose of the visit was to explore potential partnership opportunities between KNUST and Korean higher education institutions. Min Kyu Lee, a researcher in African Studies with a deep commitment to Africa’s development, expressed his interest in fostering collaborative, cutting-edge research in the medical science.
Professor Daniel Duah warmly welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of KNUST, emphasizing the significance of international partnerships in enhancing academic excellence and research innovation. He reaffirmed IPO’s commitment to advancing this collaboration and noted that discussions would progress after a visit to the implementing unit, College of Health Sciences and upon receipt of a formal letter of intent.
Professor Mrs. Dzomeku highlighted the critical role such partnerships could play in advancing digitalisation in healthcare teaching and practices, particularly in midwifery and childbirth. Rev. Dr. Tetteh also emphasized that this initiative could serve as a pilot project for similar collaborations with other universities in Ghana and beyond.
Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar; Mr. Livingstone Agbenorxevi, Assistant Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; and Mr. Attah-Nyame Essampong, Visibility and Communications Officer, all from the International Programmes Office.
