As a gesture of gratitude for the quality education he received from KNUST, which he credited for shaping his personal and professional life, Osaberima Ansah-Sasraku III, Nana Mamfehene and Patron of the KNUST Alumni Association, Spintex , Accra donated a 7-acre parcel of land gifted to him by his maternal family. The land, located in Mamfe in the Eastern Region of Ghana, is intended for the establishment of an arboretum.
The arboretum project aims to promote environmental conservation, research, and education while serving as a lasting legacy of Nana Mamfehene’s commitment to the university. The donation was formalized during the meeting with the Vice Chancellor and the KNUST Alumni Association executives.
Professor Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, Vice Chancellor of KNUST, expressed deep appreciation for Osaberima Ansah-Sasraku III’s generous donation. She praised his commitment to giving back to his alma mater and described the gift as "transformational," aligning with KNUST’s vision for sustainability. She highlighted the arboretum’s role in research, learning, and strengthening ties between KNUST, its alumni, and traditional leaders.
The meeting concluded with the official signing of a Deed of Conveyance involving Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Osaberima Ansah-Sasraku III (Chief of Mamfe and Kyidomhene of the Akuapem Traditional Area), and the KNUST Alumni Association. This landmark agreement marks a significant step in strengthening the relationship between KNUST, its alumni, and traditional leaders, while also advancing the university’s commitment to sustainability and community development.
