On Friday, May 9, 2025, Professor Zakiya S. Wilson-Kennedy, Associate Dean for Academic Innovation and Engagement  at the College of Science from Louisiana State University (LSU), USA, paid a courtesy visit to Professor Daniel Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
She was accompanied by her sister, Miss Kanyetta Wansley, a Pharmacist and Clinical Trial Liaison Leader in the USA and Prof. Patrick F. Mensah, a collaborator from Southern University, USA.
Professor Wilson-Kennedy’s visit formed part of LSU’s mission to expand its international partnerships, with a particular interest in fostering collaboration between the Chemistry Departments of LSU and KNUST. She also discussed the potential introduction of LSU’s Teacher Education Program at KNUST. This initiative equips students with pedagogical skills and offers a teaching certification alongside their undergraduate degree.
Professor Daniel Duah warmly welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of international collaborations in advancing KNUST’s vision of remaining a top-tier African university. He expressed strong support for the proposed partnership and assured the delegation of IPO’s readiness to connect them with the relevant academic departments to move discussions forward.
Prof. Duah also envisioned the introduction of the teacher education certification alongside undergraduate degrees for KNUST through a strategic partnership. The model allows students obtain 2 degrees in 4 years with the secondary one being in education.
Also in attendance were Mr. Livingstone Agbenorxevi, Assistant Collaborations Officer, and Mr. Attah-Nyame Essampong, Visibility and Communications Officer.
