On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, Dr. Baniyelme Zoogah, a Professor of Human Resources Management at McMaster University, Canada, paid a courtesy visit to Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He was accompanied by Professor Henry Kofi Mensah, Associate Professor in the Department of Human Resource and Organisational Development at KNUST.
Dr. Zoogah is currently in Ghana under the auspices of the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program for an academic engagement with KNUST. As part of his visit, he is also serving as a global ambassador for McMaster University, Canada, with the aim of strengthening institutional ties between McMaster and KNUST. He indicated that McMaster’s Faculties of Engineering and Business are particularly interested in forging collaborative partnerships with their counterparts at KNUST. In this regard, McMaster University is seeking to sign a general Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KNUST to provide a framework under which various faculties can pursue specific collaborative initiatives.
Professor Daniel Duah extended a warm welcome to Dr. Zoogah and highlighted the importance of international academic partnerships in bringing diverse perspectives and approaches to shared global challenges. He expressed strong support for the proposed collaboration and affirmed the need for a general MoU to serve as a foundation for future engagements. However, he emphasized that faculty-level driven MoUs tend to be more actionable and effective, as they identify direct contact persons from both institutions to facilitate ongoing collaboration. He was this happy that Prof. Mensah is driving this partnership on behalf of the KNUST Business School.
He assured Dr. Zoogah that KNUST’s template for general MoUs would be shared with McMaster University to initiate the process and allow for internal review by relevant stakeholders.
Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar; Mr. Livingstone Agbenorxevi, Assistant Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; and Mr. Samuel Sarpong, Visibility and Communications Officer – all of the IPO.
