REPRESENTATIVES OF CONSORTIUM OF RUSSIAN UNIVERSITIES VISIT KNUST TO EXPLORE PARTNERSHIPS

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, a delegation from the Centre for Public Diplomacy, representing the Consortium of Russian Universities, paid a courtesy visit to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The delegation, led by Dr. Natalia Krasovskaia, Executive Director of the Centre for Public Diplomacy, met with Professor Edmund Ekuadzi, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO), at the IPO Singh Guest House Conference Room to explore potential areas of collaboration.

The delegation comprised representatives from three of the twenty-nine universities within the consortium including St. Petersburg University, Russian University of Transport, and Novosibirsk State University. The KNUST team that received the delegation included the Heads of Departments of Civil Engineering, Statistics and Actuarial Science, and History and Politics, as well as representatives from the Regional Transport Research and Education Centre, Kumasi (TRECK).

In her opening remarks, Dr. Krasovskaia introduced the Centre for Public Diplomacy and explained its role in fostering cooperation between Russian and African universities. She emphasized that the consortium, which includes twenty-nine institutions across Russia, is dedicated to promoting academic and research partnerships across Africa. Representatives of the three Russian universities present also gave detailed presentations on their institutions, outlining areas of potential collaboration with KNUST.

Professor Ekuadzi, in his welcome address, expressed appreciation to the delegation for their visit and reaffirmed KNUST’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships that promote academic excellence, innovation, and sustainable development. Discussions focused on exploring collaboration in transport education, particularly in railway engineering and water transportation, as well as other interdisciplinary academic and research areas.
The meeting ended positively, with both sides hopeful about developing the discussions into meaningful collaborations.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Registrar of Academic Affairs and a team from the International Programmes Office, including the Senior Assistant Registrar, Collaborations and Partnerships Officer, and Inbound and Outbound Exchange Officer.
