Scholarship Awardees from Department of Petroleum Engineering for 2+2 Programme at New Mexico Tech, USA Call on Vice-Chancellor, KNUST Ahead of Travel

Scholarship Awardees for the 2+2 Programme between KNUST and the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, KNUST, Professor Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson at the Council Chamber on Tuesday 1st August, 2023.

The awardees are Godsway Akpabli; Desmond Ofori Koranteng; Mercy Nana Ama Akomrah and Benedicta Elikplim Vidzro.

The Head of Department of Petroleum Engineering, Professor Emmanuel Amponsah Donkor stated that the 2+2 programme is an opportunity for BSc. Petroleum Engineering students who have completed second year at KNUST to transition seamlessly to NMT to complete their 3rd and 4th year studies and obtain an NMT Petroleum Engineering degree.

The Vice-Chancellor, in her congratulatory message to the students, expressed her excitement about the opportunity for the students to complete their studies at NMT. She admonished the students to represent KNUST, Ghana and their respective families well and also to take their studies seriously and make an impact.

The Dean for the International Programmes Office, Prof. Daniel Y.A. Duah, explained that this programme was as a result of the active MOU between KNUST and NMT. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor for her time and advice to the students and assured her of the Office’s continual support for the programme.

Present at the meeting were Professor Jerry John Kponyo, Dean, Quality Assurance and Planning Office; Dr. Yen Adams Sokama-Neuyam, Coordinator for New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) 2 + 2 Programme; Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, Deputy Registrar, University Relations Office and Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Assistant Registrar at the International Programmes Office.
