A delegation from University of Seychelles (UniSey), Seychelles Islands, paid a courtesy call on Prof. Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, Vice-Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Friday, 28th March, 2025 at the Council Chamber.
The delegation, led by Ms. Joelle Perreau, Vice-Chancellor of UniSey, comprised Dr. Justin Zelime, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Development; Mr. Shaun Berlouis, Director of Finance and Business Development; Ms. Dolivette Chang-Ko, Director of Marketing, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement; and Hon. Kwame N. Acquah, Honorary Consul of Seychelles to Ghana.
Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) in January 2025 in Seychelles Islands between the two institutions, Ms. Perreau indicated that their visit marked an initial step into the operationalisation of the agreement. She highlighted key areas for collaboration that include joint research, staff and student mobility, cultural exchange, collaborations in ICT, teacher education, social work as well as professional training programmes in healthcare and tourism.
Prof. Mrs. Dickson extended a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed her appreciation for their visit. She reaffirmed KNUST’s commitment in strengthening the educational ties between the two institutions. She wished them a fruitful stay in KNUST and Kumasi.
Present at the meeting were Prof. Charles Ofosu Marfo, Provost, College of Humanities and Social Sciences; Dr. Charles Nsiah, Finance Officer; Prof. Esmeranda Manful, Vice-Dean, International Programmes Office; Prof. Eric Appau Asante, Director, E-Learning Centre; Mrs. Abigail Dzama Anderson, Senior Assistant Registrar, E-Learning Centre; Ms. Efua Arku, Senior Assistant Registrar, Office of the Registrar; and Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar, International Programmes Office.
The delegation, having expressed keen interest in exploring areas in ICT and business, amongst others, visited the E-Learning Centre and the Office of the Provost, College of Humanities and Social Sciences for in depth engagements with faculty and staff. They also toured campus and visited the Opoku Ware II Museum.
