Emerita Professor Grace Hampton of Pennsylvania State University, USA Call on Dean Of International Programmes Office

Dr. Grace Hampton, Professor Emerita of Art, Art Education, Integrative Arts, and African Studies at the Pennsylvania State University, USA called on the Dean of the International Programmes Office, Prof. Daniel Y. A. Duah on Monday, July 17, 2023.

The Pennsylvania State University is a multi-campus, land-grant, public research university that educates students from around the world and supports individuals and communities through integrated programs of teaching, research, and service. The University has a student population of 140,000 and 20,000 faculty members.

Penn State researchers believe the best ideas and solutions come from including a multitude of perspectives. The University’s interdisciplinary institutes promote collaboration across departmental boundaries to focus research strengths on vital scientific questions and pressing societal needs.

Dr. Hampton who is currently on Sabbatical Leave in Ghana, has been mandated to renew the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between KNUST and Pennsylvania State University. The MoU covered faculty exchange, students exchange, joint research and publications, and exchange of exhibitions. The initial focus of the MOU was with the Department of Industrial Art.

On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and Management of the University, Prof. Duah welcomed her again to KNUST. He expressed his excitement about the visit, and the importance of the collaboration between the two institutions. Prof. Duah gave a brief overview of KNUST and its Collegiate System. He indicated that KNUST has been ranked the best in the world for SDG 4, Quality Education by the Times Higher Education for 2023. He mentioned that the International Programmes Office has recently begun to recognize and appreciate initiators of Memorandums of Understanding and university management, among others, are copied.

Present at the meeting were Dr. Kwabena Asubonteng, Head, Department of Indigenous Art and Technology who is facilitating the renewal of the MOU to focus on his Department as the initial focus and Ms. Evelyn Safowaa, Senior Administrative Assistant of the International Programmes Office.
