University of Nottingham to Partner KNUST

 A delegation from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom, has called on the Office of the Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. Their visit was to explore areas of cooperation and diversity between the two institutions and as a way of widening their reach in Africa as a whole.

The leader of the delegation, and Director of International Recruitment, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Nottingham, Dr. Mohammed Elmaghrbi, stated that his outfit is committed to global reach and partnerships for development. He further stated that their visit underpins their University’s commitment to supporting development across Africa through capacity building, collaborative support, and knowledge transfer.

The Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson received the team on behalf of the University Management. She welcomed the idea of a partnership and said KNUST, as a world-class University, does not thrive on its own but also makes use of relationships as part of a global community. According to Professor Dickson, partnerships are needed in training graduates who can excel globally. She hoped the collaboration will encompass staff and faculty exchange, joint research, and supervision as well as any other mutually beneficial areas.

The Dean of the International Programmes Office, Professor Daniel Yaw Addai Duah said the University is extremely happy about the idea of a partnership with the University of Nottingham and stated that a memorandum of understanding would be signed to officially seal the partnership. He also appealed to the delegation to consider student leadership exchange.

The Registrar of KNUST, Mr. Andrew Kwasi Boateng, also reminded the delegation of the critical roles played by administrators in the university system and hoped that administrators are considered in the partnership. He hoped this will afford administrators from both sides to exchange knowledge and best practices.

The team from University of Nottingham included the Partnerships Manager, Faculty of Engineering, Ms. Lucy Rose and the Director of Graduate Guidance Group, Ms. Emma Tarrant Tayou.
