On Monday, June 16, 2025, a delegation of alumni from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) paid a courtesy visit to Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO), to explore the establishment of a scholarship initiative.

The delegation comprised Mr. Zachary Antonio Hill, Mr. James Owusu, Mr. Johnson Diko, and Miss Violet Bawuah. Speaking on behalf of the group, Mr. Hill emphasized the alumni’s commitment to giving back to their alma mater by supporting students through a scholarship fund. The proposed initiative aims to have paid mobility opportunities for Ghanaian students to study in the USA and African-American students to study at KNUST.

Professor Daniel Duah warmly welcomed the team and expressed appreciation for their thoughtful initiative. He provided a brief overview of the university’s current status, noting the significant increase in student enrollment since the time of the alumni's graduation. He commended the group for their vision and highlighted the impact of similar scholarship programmes in supporting financially disadvantaged students at KNUST.

Professor Duah assured the alumni of the University's support and shared that, subject to discussions on sustainable funding sources, the standard KNUST framework for scholarship establishment would be made available for the team’s review and subsequent consideration by the Legal Services Division.

Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar; Mr. Livingstone Agbenorxevi, Assistant Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; and Mr. Attah-Nyame Essampong, Visibility and Communications Officer – all of the IPO; and Mr. Stephen Oppong Osei-Tutu, Senior Administrative Assistant at the Advancement and Alumni Relations Office.
