On Friday, July 25, 2025, a delegation from the National Water Institute of the University of Abomey-Calavi (UAC), the oldest and most populous university in Benin, paid a courtesy visit to Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The visiting delegation included Dr. Aymar Yaovi Bossa, Mr. Susor Olory, and Dr. Rita Houngue.
The delegation was introduced to the IPO by Professor Anthony Andrews, Director of the Institute of Distance Learning (IDL) at KNUST, who was accompanied by Dr. Daniel Opoku and Mr. Charles Owusu-Antwi, also of IDL.
Professor Andrews recalled that he and his colleagues had visited UAC about two years ago, during which discussions were initiated on potential collaboration. These discussions culminated in the winning of two joint grant applications leading to the current visit by the UAC team, aimed at exploring the possibilities of partnerships in distance education. The goal is to harness the power of online learning to establish joint short courses and, eventually, joint degree programmes between KNUST and UAC.
Welcoming the delegation, Professor Daniel Duah emphasized KNUST’s strong commitment to strategic partnerships that enhance the delivery of world-class education. He highlighted the University’s focus on fostering South-South cooperation, with the International Programmes Office playing a key role in championing such collaborations.
Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar; Mr. Livingstone Agbenorxevi, Assistant Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; and Mr. Attah-Nyame Essampong, Visibility and Communications Officer - all of the International Programmes Office.
