On Thursday, August 7, 2025, Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO), delivered a keynote speech at a pre-departure seminar organized by Campus France Ghana for Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) students heading to French universities.
A majority of the students were beneficiaries of the “3 + 1 + 1” agreement between KNUST and select French universities. Under this arrangement, students spend their final year of undergraduate study in France, followed by an additional year, graduating with a bachelor’s degree from KNUST and a master’s degree from a partner French university. The remaining attendees were full-time postgraduate students who have secured admission to French institutions.
Professor Daniel Duah described the partnership between KNUST and the French Embassy as “long-standing and fruitful,” noting its significant contribution to academic and cultural exchange. He congratulated the students on their selection and urged them to make the most of the opportunity, reminding them that many others had also hoped for such a chance but could not secure it.
“You are ambassadors of KNUST on your various campuses in France,” he stated, encouraging them to uphold the values of the University abroad. He also advised them to ensure all necessary travel documents were in order, to budget efficiently, and to actively expand their professional and academic networks while overseas.
Reassuring the students of continuous support, Professor Duah reminded them that the doors of the IPO remain open and urged them to reach out whenever needed. He concluded by wishing them safe travels and success in their academic pursuits.
