A delegation from Tongmyong University, South Korea, visited the KNUST School of Business

On Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, a delegation from Tongmyong University, South Korea, visited the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Business (KSB) as part of efforts to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration.

Facilitated by the International Programmes Office (IPO), the visit provided a platform for both institutions to discuss potential partnerships in business education, research, and student mobility.

The delegation, led by Mr. Kang Kyung Su, Chairman of the Tongmyong Educational Foundation, included Professor Eshetu Tefera Bekele, Assistant Professor at the Busan International College of Global Business, and Mr. Kim Joo Young, Administrator and Marketing Officer.

Team

At the School of Business, the delegation was received by Professor Kingsley Opoku Appiah, Vice Dean of KSB and Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance, together with a team of Heads of Department, including Professor Henry Kofi Mensah, Head of the Department of Human Resources and Organisational Development; Professor Bylon Abeeku Bamfo, Head of the Department of Marketing and Corporate Strategy; and Henry Kofi Mensah, Head of the Department of Human Resources and Organisational Development.

The KSB team provided an overview of the school’s academic programmes, research priorities, and internationalisation agenda. Discussions focused on forging mutually beneficial partnerships in teaching and learning, joint research initiatives, and exchange opportunities for both staff and students, particularly in areas such as Entrepreneurship, International Business, International Trade, and Logistics.

Mr. Kim Joo Young highlighted that although Tongmyong University’s programme in Hotel and Culinary Services is currently taught exclusively in Korean, KNUST students could benefit from summer school programmes, as well as industry-focused field trips and internships during exchange visits to Tongmyong University.

Team

The engagement strengthened mutual understanding and laid a solid foundation for future collaborations that align with KNUST’s vision of expanding its global academic networks and Tongmyong University’s ambition to establish a strong presence in Africa.

Also present at the meeting were Mr. Ohene Dwumfour Appiah, Senior Administrative Assistant at the Office of the Dean of the KSB; Ms. Ernestine Oheneba Danso, Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; Mr. Attah-Nyame Essampong, Visibility and Communications Officer; and Mr. Karikari Gyimah Ankoana, Inbound and Outbound Exchange Officer, all from the International Programmes Office.
