An official send-off ceremony was held on 12th November 2025 in honour of Professor Su Zibo, the first Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at KNUST. The occasion, marked by warmth and deep symbolism, celebrated the enduring friendship and mutual respect between KNUST and the Hubei University of Automotive Technology, China.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of a traditional Ghanaian smock—a heartfelt gesture symbolizing friendship and appreciation. The gift was presented to Professor Su by Mrs. Ama Serwah Bonsu Duah, on behalf of Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, the Ghanaian Director of the Institute and former Dean of the International Programmes Office.
During the event, Professor Su introduced Professor Ninglike, the newly appointed Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, encouraging all who supported him during his tenure to extend the same support to his successor as he leads the Institute into a new phase of collaboration and growth.
The ceremony concluded with members of the University community extending their best wishes to Professor Su Zibo as he embarks on a new chapter, and to Professor Ninglike as he begins his tenure as the new Director of the Confucius Institute at KNUST.
