On Friday, November 7, 2025, Professor Ningli Ke, the newly appointed Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at KNUST, paid a courtesy call on Professor Edmund Ekuadzi, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO). He was accompanied by Professor Su Zibo, the outgoing Chinese Director.
In his remarks, Professor Su noted that the Confucius Institute, established in December 2023 with significant support from Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, former Dean of IPO, has made great strides in cultural and academic exchange. He explained that the purpose of the visit was to officially introduce Professor Ke, who will be taking over his role, and to express appreciation for the support the Office has provided during his tenure. He added that he and Professor Ke previously worked together at the Hubei University of Automotive Technology and have known each other for 18 years. Professor Su appealed for the continued support of the Office as Professor Ke assumes leadership and took the opportunity to bid farewell as his term comes to an end.

Professor Ekuadzi warmly welcomed Professor Ke and assured him of the IPO’s ongoing support. He emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration to advance the work of the Confucius Institute and contribute to the growth of KNUST. He highlighted the potential for expanding the partnership to include initiatives in traditional Chinese medicine to support the development of Ghana’s herbal medicine sector and deepen the Herbal Medicine programme at KNUST. Professor Ekuadzi also underscored the significance of cultural exchange between Ghana and China and encouraged Professor Ke to remain closely engaged, assuring him that the doors of the International Programmes Office remain open.
Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar; Ms. Ernestine Oheneba Danso, Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; and Mr. Joel Mensah.
