A delegation from the University College London (UCL), UK, paid a courtesy call on the Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO)

On Tuesday, 21 April 2026, a delegation from the University College London (UCL), UK, paid a courtesy call on the Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) Prof. Edmund Ekuadzi. The delegation, comprising Dr. Selorm Adukpo and Prof. Francesco Di Maddaloni, was also joined by Dr. Naa Adjeley Oshiboe-Mensah Doamekpor of Ashesi University. 
The visit was part of a broader engagement involving a multinational research team currently collaborating with Prof. Emmanuel Adinyira, Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment at KNUST, who serves as the Ghana Lead on a project focused on advancing net-zero carbon infrastructure in Ghana’s public sector.
The project, titled “Achieving Net Zero Carbon in Infrastructure Projects: Developing NZC Capabilities by Public Sector Agencies in Ghana,” aims to strengthen institutional capacity for integrating carbon-neutral strategies into infrastructure planning and delivery.

Discussions during the meeting centered on exploring potential areas of collaboration, particularly in sustainability, environmental design and architecture. It was noted that the research team is actively engaging key stakeholders, including the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and the Department of Urban Roads, to ensure practical community and urban development impact.
As part of their visit, Prof. Francesco Di Maddaloni indicated that the team would interact directly with students at both faculty and departmental levels. This engagement is intended to enhance academic exchange and expose students to ongoing international research initiatives.
Prof. Edmund, welcomed the delegation and proposed possible areas that could be formalized under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), including student and staff exchange programmes, as well as virtual workshops to facilitate continuous academic interaction between the institutions.
Both parties expressed optimism about deepening the collaboration and agreed to continue engagements toward developing a structured partnership that supports sustainable development, academic exchangeand impactful research.
Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Mr. Joel Mensah and Miss. Patricia Frimpong Manso, all from the IPO.
