THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION (ISA), KNUST HOSTS ITS FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING FOR THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC YEAR

The International Students’ Association (ISA-KNUST) held its First General Assembly Meeting for the 2025/2026 Academic Year on Wednesday, 13th May 2026, at the New Brunei TV Room. The meeting brought together international students, ISA executives, invited dignitaries, and representatives of sister associations to reflect on the just-ended semester, review reports, and discuss matters affecting the international student community.
 The meeting officially commenced with a prayer by Miss Nsaingeh Bernadette Burinyuy, a first-year student from Cameroon 
In representing The Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO), the Vice Dean Prof. Mrs. Augustina Angelina Sylverken. In her remarks, commended ISA for creating a platform that promotes dialogue and student engagement. She further encouraged international students to remain united and actively involved in the Association, assuring them that the International Programmes Office remains their home and that its doors are always open to support and receive them regardless of the situation.

The ISA President, Divine Jaja, welcomed members and expressed appreciation for their support throughout the first semester. Reports were subsequently presented by various committees, including the Organizing Secretary, the Project Coordinator, the Finance Committee, and the Audit Committee, highlighting activities, projects, finances, and accountability measures undertaken during the semester.
During the discussions, members raised concerns regarding the need for a detailed breakdown of the financial report. They sought clarification from the previous administration on issues such as the ISA-AFCON programme and the ISA Bus Project. Welfare concerns affecting international students in the GUSSS hostels were also discussed, with members proposing stronger collaboration between ISA and hostel management to improve student support systems.
At the end of the deliberations, the General Assembly resolved that the Finance Committee should provide a detailed financial breakdown online by 20th May 2026. Members were also informed that a Google Form would be circulated to gather additional concerns on welfare and student challenges.
The meeting concluded with closing remarks from the Chief of Staff, Nguimfack Stephane Rowel, followed by a closing prayer by Mr. Muhammed Amin Mahanera, a second-year student from The Gambia. Members were encouraged to remain active in the affairs of ISA-KNUST and continue upholding the values of transparency, participation, and accountability within the Association.
