On Monday, 23 February 2026, the International Programmes Office, IPO, KNUST, hosted a delegation from Prof. Nina Baur, from the Technical University of Berlin (TUB) accompanied by Prof. Esmeranda Manful (Head, Department of Sociology and Social Work) and Dr. Vincent de Paul Kanwetuu Lecturer, Department of Sociology and Social Work, KNUST, for a courtesy call aimed at strengthening and expanding institutional collaboration and to have an academic interactions with students and staff of the Department of Sociology and Social Work, KNUST.
The delegation, comprising of Prof. Jahanna Hoerning, Prof. Moritz Altenried, Prof. Ingo Schulz Schaeffer, Prof. Isabell Stamm, Prof. Moritz Altenried, received by Prof. Edmund Ekuadzi, Dean, IPO, shared insights into ongoing work within the Sociology Department and identified potential areas where collaborative research and teaching with TUB could be developed.
They highlighted, “This engagement took place against the background of an evolving partnership under the Erasmus+ Programme, which initially began through informal and exploratory exchanges before maturing into a productive institutional relationship. Earlier spontaneous visits and faculty-level workshops had demonstrated strong mutual interest and tangible outcomes, paving the way for the current visit.”
During the interaction, the TUB delegation expressed strong interest in deepening collaboration with KNUST, particularly in the areas of joint research, academic exchanges, and interdisciplinary initiatives that bridge engineering, social sciences and development-focused studies. Prof. Manful and Dr. Vincent highlighted the importance of aligning future collaborations with the strategic priorities of both institutions, while exploring new and mutually beneficial areas of engagement.
In his remarks, Prof. Ekuadzi emphasized KNUST’s strategic focus on internationalization and reiterated the University’s readiness to support partnerships that enhance research productivity, staff and student mobility, and knowledge exchange.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to sustained engagement and concrete follow-up actions. The visit marks an important step toward deepening collaboration between KNUST and the Technical University of Berlin, reinforcing a shared vision of academic excellence, innovation, and global partnership.
