Delegation from College of Business, Southern University USA, Pays Courtesy Call on Vice-Chancellor

A thirty-two (32) member delegation from the College of Business, Southern University, Baton Rouge, USA, paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, at the Council Chamber on Monday, 26th June 2023.

The team was led by Dr. Donald R. Andrews, Dean of the College of Business and Project Director (Entrepreneurship and Innovation Team). He expressed his delight at the two-year project between the two universities. He further noted the fruitful collaboration and stated Southern University’s eagerness to sustain the partnership for the mutual benefit of both institutions.

During the meeting, Dr. Ashagre “Ashe” Yigletu, Dean, Graduate School and Co-Project Director (Curriculum and Internationalisation) at Southern University disclosed that although the current collaboration was coming to an end, Southern University was keen on maintaining the partnership. He further added that the institution would be enthusiastic about enhancing the partnership with exchange programmes involving faculty and students from both universities.

In response, the Vice-Chancellor expressed her excitement about the growing relationship between the two institutions. She outlined the values of KNUST in providing quality education, fostering entrepreneurship, conducting relevant research and engaging with the community for the betterment of humanity. Professor Mrs. Dickson emphasised that KNUST cherishes the collaboration with Southern University and hoped that the relationship established with the KNUST School of Business would expand to other colleges within the University.

Professor Nathaniel Boso, Dean of KNUST School of Business, highlighted the need for both institutions to engage in exchange programmes for faculty and students as part of their sustainability strategies for the partnership. He also underscored the importance of joint research programmes, curriculum improvement with an international focus and the infusion of entrepreneurship, innovation and technology programmes to make students more globally inclined.

Present at the courtesy call were Mr. Yaw Nimo-Baffour, Finance Officer; Professor Charles Ofosu Marfo, Provost of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences; Dr. Jimmy Nkrumah, Directorof Works and Physical Development; Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office; Arc. Kojo Safo Kantanka, University Architect; Professor Ahmed Agyapong, Head, Department of Marketing and Corporate Strategy; Professor Henry Kofi Mensah, Department of Human Resources and Organisational Development; Mr. Festus Nyame, Senior Assistant Registrar, KNUST School of Business, Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Assistant Registrar at the International Programmes Office, among others.
