On Monday, March 10, 2025, a delegation from the Rehab Neural Engineering Lab (RNEL), University of Pittsburgh (USA) paid a courtesy visit to Professor Esmeranda Manful, the Vice Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) .
The delegation was led by Mr. Gilgal Ansah, alumnus of KNUST and Mastercard scholar. The delegation included Dr. Lee Fisher, Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Mr. Robin Lienkämper, Postdoctoral Associate at RNEL. The team was introduced to IPO by Mr. Prince Ebenezer Adjei, Engineer and Lecturer in the Department of Computer Engineering at KNUST.
The purpose of the visit was to get a first-hand experience of the Biomedical Engineering programme at the Department of Engineering at KNUST and to work towards establishing a Neural Engineering Club for students in the department, as well as explore further collaborative opportunities between the two institutions.
Professor Esmeranda Manful extended a warm welcome to the delegation, emphasizing the importance of international partnerships to KNUST. She expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity this collaboration presents, particularly for the College of Engineering, and assured the delegation of the International Programmes Office’s commitment to fostering such partnerships. She wished the team a productive stay on campus and a successful engagement with the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar; Miss Ernestine Oheneba Danso, Collaboration and Partnerships Officer; and Mr. Livingstone Agbenorxevi, Assistant Collaborations and Partnerships Officer, and Mr. Samuel Sarpong, Visibility and Communication Officer, all from the International Programmes Office.
