Delegation from University of Tsukuba Paid Courtesy Visit to the Dean of International Programmes Office

On Thursday, April 17, 2025, a delegation from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, paid a courtesy visit to the International Programmes Office (IPO) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to explore avenues for academic and research collaboration.

The delegation comprised Assistant Professor Mizuho Fukushige, Vice-Director of the Bureau of Global Initiatives, and Professor Masao Ichikawa, a faculty member in Global Public Health at the Institute of Medicine. They were introduced to the IPO by Professor Yeetey Enuameh, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Mr. Hayford Isaac Budu, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Nursing, both of KNUST.

Assistant Professor Fukushige, who led the delegation, stated that the visit aimed to deepen discussions on shared research interests, identify opportunities for educational partnerships, and explore potential student exchange programmes, particularly in the fields of Health Sciences and Engineering.

The delegation was warmly received by Professor Daniel Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office. In his welcome remarks, he emphasized the importance of international collaborations in enhancing KNUST’s mission to provide a world-class education and broaden students’ exposure to diverse academic environments. He reaffirmed IPO’s commitment to advancing partnerships between KNUST and the University of Tsukuba and wished the delegation fruitful engagements with the relevant departments.

Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar; Mr. Livingstone Agbenorxevi, Assistant Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; and Mr. Attah-Nyame Essampong, Visibility and Communications Officer, all from the IPO.
