Delegation from University of Tsukuba Paid Courtesy Visit to the Vice Dean of the International Programmes Office

On Monday, March 3, 2025, a delegation from University of Tsukuba , Japan, visited the International Programmes Office (IPO) of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to explore academic and research collaborations.

The delegation included Associate Professor Hiroko Iwata, Chair of International Affairs of Graduate Program of Nursing Science and Chair of International Relations of College of Nursing; Professor Ryota Ochiai (School of Medicine), Assistant Professor Kana Ohkawa and Adom Seth, a Doctoral student at the institution.

Established in 1973 with a current student population of 17,000, the institution is known for its strong emphasis on research and innovation.

According to the lead Associate Professor Hiroko Iwata, the visit aimed to strengthen discussions on mutual research interests, identify opportunities for educational partnerships and explore potential student exchange programmes, particularly in the Health Sciences.

Professor Esmeranda Manful, Vice Dean of the IPO, warmly welcomed the delegation. She provided an overview of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and reaffirmed the KNUST’s commitment to fostering meaningful collaborations.

Also present at the meeting were Professor Mrs. Veronica Millicient Dzomeku, Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery; Professor Yeetey Enuameh (Associate Professor and Head of Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics); Mr.Hayford Isaac Budu (Senior Lecturer at the Department of Nursing); Mrs. Yvonne Baiden (Senior Assistant Registrar), Mr. Livingstone Agbenorxevi (Assistant Collaborations and Partnerships Officer), and Mr. Attah-Nyame Essampong (Visibility and Communications Officer) all from the International Programmes Office.
