First Cohort of Tum Africa Talent Programme of The Technical University of Munich Call on Dean Of International Programmes Office

The first cohort of doctoral candidates from KNUST for the TUM Africa Talent comprising Bridget Ampofo researching on Land Management and Land Governance; Priscilla Oyeladun on Smart Grid Security; Emmanuel Owiredu on Statistics; and Samuel Dodobatia, reaching in Electric Vehicles and Solar Photovoltaic Energy, called on the Dean of the International Programmes Office, Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah on Monday, July 17, 2023.

TUM Africa Talent is a research exchange programme that brings together talented and highly motivated doctoral candidates from the sub-Saharan Africa region with professors and doctoral candidates at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). This affords them the opportunity to share common goals such as scientific excellence, the promotion of knowledge and mutual understanding, and the desire to have a positive societal impact.

The doctoral candidates who have been on a 3-month exchange programme at TUM arrived at KNUST last week. They shared their experiences at TUM and mentioned that they enjoyed their stay at there. They stated that they had a good exposure by tapping into the available knowledge and expertise. In terms of the library; the candidates stated that they were provided a TUM ID in order to access the books online and this has been of immense value to their research. The team provided good feedback to the IPO and opportunities for joint research and equipment ahead of plans for next year’s cohort.

Prof. Duah congratulated the first cohort for completing the exchange successfully and for representing KNUST well. He was thrilled to learn about their experiences and the benefits the exchange provided them assigning that he could see visible evidences.

On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Duah thanked them for being a good ambassadors of KNUST. He stressed that their experience gained at TUM will enable them to conduct excellent work and complete their project on schedule. He suggested that they contact their TUM Supervisors and buddies on a regular basis to keep the momentum going under the advice of their respective KNUST supervisors.
