International Programmes Office Conducts Endorsement Interviews for 2024 Cohort of Applicants for McCall MacBain Scholarship to Study at Mcgill University in Canada

The International Programmes has held endorsement interviews for the second cohort of the 2024 McCall McBain Scholarship on Friday July 28, 2023 at the Conference Room of the Singh Guest House of the IPO. The purpose was to interact with the 50 of the 67 shortlisted applicants for endorsement for the Boursiers McCall MacBain Scholarship.

The panel of assessors included the Dean of the International Programmes Office, Prof. Daniel Y. A. Duah, the CEO of Universal Hospital Group, Mr. Frederick Amissah. Fred, is a multiple award-winning business transformer/CEO, TEDx speaker, a 40under40 award nominee, Certified Life Coach and Harvard Africa Business Conference alumni is a result proven turnaround business leader (managed between 10 - 150m USD business units) with 20+ years experience across Agribusiness, FMCG ( Ex BAT, Coca Cola, Diageo, & Herbalife), Consulting, Media and Project/ Health Construction Management.

The assessors also included the Vice Dean of the IPO, Prof. Esmeranda Manful and Ms. Rachael Opoku-Afriyie, a former Teaching Assistant at the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the winner of the maiden edition for the 2023 cohort. Rachael is due to start graduate school at McGill University in Canada on the McCall MacBain Scholarship.

Out of the 50 shortlisted applicants, 47 participated in the endorsement interviews. Ten (10) applicants have been shortlisted following a 10 hour intensive engagement based on the following criteria: exceptional character, community engagement, leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, academic strength and intellectual curiosity. This was followed by an hour of processing of the results which would be announced on Monday, July 31, 2023 .

Technical support was led by Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Assistant Registrar, and included Evelyn Safowaa, Senior Administrative Assistant, Samuel Sarpong in charge of Visibility and Publicity, Dorcas Afumwaa responsible for Guest Houses, all of the International Programmes Office, and Abraham Lukeman Kura Safo, a PhD Candidate of the Architecture programme.

The International Programmes Office is grateful to all for supporting this process in diverse ways. The endorsed applicants would be coached and supported throughout the process by the IPO and her partners. We wish all other participants who did exceptionally well the very best in all their future endeavors.
