International Programmes Office Held Orientation for Exchange Students and Scholars

On Friday, January 31, 2025, the International Programmes Office (IPO) at KNUST hosted an engaging and insightful orientation for new exchange students and scholars. The event, held at the IPO Conference Room, was designed to welcome them and provide essential information about their stay on campus.

Senior Assistant Registrar of IPO, Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, outlined the purpose of the event, emphasizing the university’s commitment to supporting exchange students academically and socially. The Dean of IPO Prof. Daniel Y. A. Duah delivered a warm welcome address, assuring students that they were now part of the vibrant KNUST community.

Mr. Dominic Nti Buabeng from the Directorate of Students’ Affairs (DOSA) at KNUST spoke on the crucial role of DOSA in ensuring student welfare, providing support services, and fostering a conducive environment for both academic and personal development. He highlighted how the directorate oversees student governance, counseling, career guidance, and extracurricular activities, all of which contribute to a well-rounded university experience.

Health and well-being were prioritized during the presentations by Dr. Nana Kwame O. Ayisi- Boateng, Director of University Health Services who highlighted the availability of medical facilities and the importance of seeking prompt care when needed.

The Assistant Counsellor of the KNUST Counselling Centre, Mr. Rabbi Darko, followed with an inspiring talk on mental health, encouraging students to reach out for support whenever necessary.

The Head of Security Services Lt. Col. Richard Cobba-Eshun (Rtd.) gave a practical and reassuring presentation, emphasizing security tips and the availability of 24/7 support on campus.

As Manager of GUSSS Hostels, Mr. Matthew Amoako provided an overview of the serene living spaces available to exchange students. He assured them of comfort and convenience throughout their stay.

Students expressed their appreciation and posed thoughtful questions. The session concluded with closing remarks by the Vice Dean of IPO Prof. Esmeranda Manful, who encouraged students to make the most of this opportunity for academic and cultural growth.
