International Students Showcased Culinary Skills at 2025 KNUST Food Festival

With an aim of promoting Ghana’s diverse food heritage, culture, and innovation in food product development, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) successfully hosted the 2025 annual Food Festival, on Friday February 14, 2025 at the Royal Parade Grounds.

Based on the theme “Innovation and Technological Advancement in Mindful Bites: Nourishing the Body and Mind”, the culinary skills of the International students was on display with meals cooked by students from Cameroon, Uganda, Zambia and Rwanda.

The event brought together students, food industry players, and researchers to explore advancements in food technology.

The Pro-Vice Chancellor of KNUST, Professor David Asamoah, stressed the importance of mindful and innovative food practices in fostering a healthier and more sustainable future.

Professor Faustina Wireko Manu, Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology, emphasised the need to educate the public on the science underpinning food preparation, nutrition, and food safety.

She highlighted that this year’s theme underscores the belief that every bite taken is an opportunity to fuel oneself with goodness, balance, and intention.
