KNUST and Southern University, USA, commemorated 30 years of partnership with a courtesy visit by Southern University to the Dean of the International Programmes Office

On Tuesday May 27, 2025, a 42-member delegation from the College of Business at Southern University, Baton Rouge, USA, paid a courtesy call on Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The visiting team consisted of 35 faculty and industry representatives, along with 7 students, underscoring the university’s strong commitment to advancing global academic partnerships.

Leading the delegation was Dr. Donald R. Andrews, Dean of the College of Business and Project Director of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Team. Dr. Andrews expressed the team’s enthusiasm for visiting KNUST and conveyed appreciation for the warm hospitality and exceptional coordination provided by the International Programmes Office. He commended the IPO staff for their pivotal role in nurturing the long-standing collaboration between Southern University and KNUST.

Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and University Management, Professor Duah highlighted KNUST’s global recognition as the world’s best university for SDG 4 – Quality Education, according to the 2023 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. He noted that this achievement is a product of international partnerships. He provided a comprehensive overview of KNUST’s collegiate structure, including the Institute of Distance Learning, and emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership to promote academic excellence, innovation, and cultural exchange.

Professor Daniel Duah also expressed optimism for continued collaboration in the areas of research, student and faculty exchange, and entrepreneurial development, wishing the team a productive and memorable stay at KNUST and in Ghana.

Also present at the meeting were Professor Ahmed Agyapong, Dean of the KNUST School of Business; Mr. Festus Nyame, Senior Assistant Registrar, KNUST School of Business; and Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Assistant Registrar, International Programmes Office.
