KNUST participated in Chinese Principals' Tour of China

A team of 14 participants including the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Asamoah David and the Vice–Dean of the International Programmes Office, Prof. Esmeranda Manful, among others, participated in the Chinese Bridge Principals Tour’ from 26th April to 3rd May 2025.

The main aims of the tour were to strengthen the strategic collaboration between KNUST and the Hubei University of Automotive Technology (HUAT) and to experience Chinese history and culture to modernisation. The delegation also included leaders from 4 Teaching Centres of the Confucius Institute at KNUST.

The tour led the participants to HUAT where meetings with different departments for academic cooperation were held. As part of the activities, the Vice-Dean made a presentation on the topic ‘KNUST-HUAT Collaboration: A Bridge to Effective Global South and East Knowledge Sharing’ at the Sino-Ghana Research Center for West Africa.

The Center also awarded some members of the delegation honorary Professorship including the ViceDean. The team also visited leading Chinese corporations including Dongfeng Motors; where they toured one of its production units and the sales department. For cultural experience, the team visited the Wudang Mountain, a world cultural heritage.

In Beijing, the team paid a courtesy call to the leadership of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, the public institution responsible for the establishment of Confucius Institutes around the globe. At this meeting, the Center first gave a brief history of the country using diverse technologies. It was followed by both the Chinese and the Ghanaian leadership reiterating their commitment to the success of the collaboration. In the national capital, the team visited major landmarks including Tiananmen Square.

The Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at KNUST, Prof. Su Zibo led this cultural educative tour which was co-funded by the Center for Language Education and Communication, Hubei University of Automotive Technology, and the Confucius Institute at KNUST. The other members of the team were:
