A two-member delegation from the Chair of Agricultural Production and Resource Economics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), led by Prof. Dr. Johannes Sauer, has paid a courtesy visit to the Faculty of Agriculture at the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), KNUST. He was accompanied by Mr. Carlos Böke Pascual, a Research Associate under the Chair.
The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions and explore strategic partnerships in research, innovation, and academic exchange for both students and staff, particularly within CANR.
Prof. Dr. Johannes Sauer delivered an insightful presentation on the work of the Chair of Agricultural Production and Resource Economics, highlighting multiple avenues for partnership and emphasizing the importance of practical, field-oriented research. He expressed gratitude to CANR for the warm reception and commended the college’s commitment to building a robust and impactful partnership.
The Provost of CANR, Prof. Dadson Awunyo-Vitor, also commended the delegation for the visit, underscoring its importance in fostering meaningful academic and research cooperation. He noted the strong potential for developing concrete concepts that could soon be implemented, particularly in areas that support student and faculty exchanges. He added that since such exchanges require funding, both teams will begin working on the next steps, building on ideas already identified.

Prof. Edmund Ekuadzi, Dean of the International Programmes Office, expressed enthusiasm about the discussions, noting their potential to advance impactful, real-world research. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that research outputs extend beyond academic training to create practical solutions and opportunities. “Our research must be translational. The technologies we develop should reach the field, and that is why I am particularly excited about the Living Lab initiative. It boosts innovation, job creation, and reduces graduate unemployment.
