Mr. Nikolaos Petridis, an MSc Environmental Sciences student from the Wageningen University and Research, Netherlands paid a courtesy call on Prof. Daniel Y.A Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office.
The purpose of his visit is to undertake a three-month internship in Soil Science at the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, KNUST. During this period, he will receive training in field works and laboratory analysis under the supervision of Prof. Vincent Logah. The laboratory analyses will focus on dry chemistry of soil carbon and nitrogen on the throughput CN elemental analyzer (Vario MACRO Cube) acquired for KNUST through the Royal Society-DFID (now FCDO) project coordinated by Prof. Vincent Logah. He will also receive training on the determination of soil parameters viz. soil pH, texture, available phosphorus and exchangeable cations in the Soil Science Laboratory of the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences.
This internship programme will deepen the existing collaboration between KNUST and the Wageningen University and Research established through the erstwhile Royal Society-DFID Africa capacity building project.
On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and University Management, Prof. Duah welcomed NIkolaos to KNUST and wished him the very best in his stay on campus. He underscored the importance of student mobility and asked him to take advantage and explore cultural and tourist opportunities in Ghana.
Present at the meeting were Prof. Vincent Logah, the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences and Miss Shalom Ewenam Agborli, Inbound Exchange Officer, International Programmes Office.
