Otumfuor Osei Tutu II Foundation, Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, KNUST and the University of Memphis, USA signed a memorandum of understanding to continue the King Scholarship, a programme initiated by the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II in Memphis a few years ago.
Having run for a couple of years and on the assumption of office of the new Registrar for Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Mr. Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, there has been some modifications to make the programme run smoothly with clearly defined roles for each of the parties.
Whilst Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, signed on behalf of KNUST, Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II signed for the Foundation and Mr. Asafo-Agyei signed for GSS.
After the signing by the parties, Mr. Asafo-Agyei was officially introduced to the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II as the new Registrar for the Secretariat.
The King Scholarship is a programme that funds doctoral studies at the University of Memphis with a focus on critical STEM programmes. In the coming year, activities for enrolling the next cohort of students would be started.
