On Monday, June 9, 2025, a distinguished delegation from the Hubei University of Automotive Technology (HUAT), China, paid a courtesy call on Professor Daniel Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The delegation was led by Professor Wang Xiao, President of HUAT, and included Professor Yan Liquan, Vice President of the Ghana Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and Professor Zhou Mingzhi, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs at HUAT. The team was introduced to the IPO by Professor Su Zibo, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at KNUST (CI-KNUST).
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen ongoing collaborations and to participate in the official commissioning of the newly refurbished Confucius Institute offices at KNUST - a joint initiative between HUAT and KNUST.
Professor Wang Xiao expressed his profound satisfaction with the progress CI-KNUST had made within a little over one year of its establishment, applauding the institute's growth and significance in fostering cultural and academic exchange under the leadership of Prof. Daniel Duah she Prof. Su Zibo, Ghanaian and Chinese Directors of the Institute.
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of University Management, Professor Daniel Duah offered a concise history of CI-KNUST. He recalled the initial discussions in 2022 that culminated in the formal establishment of the Institute on December 19, 2023. Professor Duah emphasized that this visit marks another important milestone in the partnership and signals the beginning of greater accomplishments between HUAT and KNUST.
Also present at the meeting were Mrs. Yvonne Baiden, Senior Assistant Registrar; Miss Ernestine Oheneba Danso, Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; Mr. Livingstone Agbenorxevi, Assistant Collaborations and Partnerships Officer – all of IPO; and Mr. Samuel Sarpong, Visibility and Communications Officer for CI-KNUST.
