Rector of Estonian Academy of Arts Called on Dean of International Programmes Office

On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, a delegation from the Estonian Academy of Arts, led by Prof. Mart Kalm, Rector and renowned Estonian architecture historian, paid a courtesy call on the Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah. The delegation included Mr. Andres Tammsaar, Director of Finance and Administration, and Ms. Sandra Mell, Head of the International Office.

The team was accompanied by Prof. Karî’kachä Seid’ou, Dean of the Faculty of Art, CABE, KNUST; Prof. Edwin Kwesi Bodjawah, Head of the Department of Painting and Sculpture; and Mr. Kwaku Boafo Kissiedu, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Painting and Sculpture, Faculty of Art, KNUST.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Kalm elaborated on the long-standing student exchange programmes between the two institutions, highlighting the transformative impact of these exchanges on students, faculty, and the institutions as a whole. He expressed keen interest in expanding the collaboration to include additional joint initiatives.

Mr. Kwaku Boafo Kissiedu outlined the activities exchange and exhibitions students had participated in. He emphasized the delegation’s intent to deepen the partnership through a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The Estonian delegation also shared details of their cultural immersion during their visit to Ghana, which included tours of notable tourist attractions such as Kakum National Park, the historic castles, and Hans Cottage in the Central Region and a campus tour. They expressed delight at the warm hospitality and exceptional cuisine they experienced in Ghana, describing their stay as remarkable.

Prof. Daniel Duah underscored KNUST's commitment to training students for global relevance and bright to the fore world class programmes offered by the Faculty of Art. He also provided insights into the significance and framework of MoUs in fostering sustainable partnerships.

The meeting was attended by Ms. Ernestine Oheneba Danso, Collaborations and Partnerships Officer; Ms. Laudina Kumi-Adjei, Administrative Support Officer; and Mr. Attah-Nyame Essampong, Visibility and Communications Officer.
